Please use the FAQ below to answer your questions regarding our new Cybersecurity Polices.

Q: Will installing these Apps on our personal cell phones affect our personal sensitive info. and bank info., personal photos...etc.

A: Installing the Intune Company Portal app does not expose your personal sensitive information on your phone.

Q: Regarding travelling, we have to contact IT before traveling outside the US regardless of if the country is on the high-risk list or not? For example, what if we are going to Canada?

A: Yes, please inform IT by sending email to helpdesk@meridian.org if traveling outside the US for work purposes.

Q: Informing IT before outside US travel: Does this only concern work-related/business trips?

A: Yes, but please note if you are traveling outside the US and/or to a high-risk country, whether work-related or personal, the cybersecurity policies still apply.

Q: Intune app: What if your current device is no longer compatible with iOS 17.5?

A: If your iPhone does not meet the iOS version 17.5 standard, you can still install the Intune Company Portal app. The system will then give you 5 days to upgrade to minimum iOS standard. If that’s not possible, please contact IT.

Q: If we don't feel comfortable installing these Apps on our personal info. Can we ask for a separate work-related phone purchased by Meridian?

A: Yes, you can request a phone assigned and managed by Meridian. Approval of your request will depend on several factors, including your supervisor, department, and necessity. Regardless, if you do have concerns installing Intune Company Portal app, please contact IT.

Q: Correct that this will only impact the phone app but not accessing Outlook through a browser?

A: Correct, if your preference is to use the web browser Outlook rather than the Outlook phone app, then Intune Company Portal app is not required for install.

Q: How do we get these apps?

A: See HERE for instructions.

Q: Will the managed outlook app still sync with my phone's calendar? I like having everything overlapping and visible

A: Yes, it should sync with your calendar. If not the case, please contact IT and we’ll assist.

Q: Currently have the Outlook for work separate from my personal Outlook. Will this still be possible?

A: Yes.

Q: Will the app be needed for people using a Meridian provided phone?

A: No. Your Meridian assigned devices will be managed differently by Intune.

Q: Given that the apps require reauthentication when we're out of the country, does that mean that we have to have location services turned on?

A: As for location services, the Intune Company Portal acts no differently than any other Office app, including your current unmanaged Outlook. Like any other app, when you sign in, IT would be able to know what country you are signing in from. This is required for security purposes and to distinguish your appropriate logins from cyberattacks.

Q: As a follow-up to Kate's question, once the current version is deactivated, will calendar items we have already synced with our phone calendar disappear and need to be resynced with the new app?

A: If you are referring to your work email calendars, then no. However, any other calendar for any other account would need to be resynced.

Q: Do we need to delete and reinstall through Intune other apps we already have on our phones, like Vonage and Teams, or is this not necessary b/c IT will not have access to those?

A: If you have an Android, then you would need to eventually delete the unmanaged older Outlook. The other apps available in the Intune Company Portal (Paylocity, Vonage, Teams) are not required to install. If you do install the other apps, similar to Outlook, the Android users would need to uninstall the older apps.

Q: What if we're working/travelling outside the DMV?

A: New cybersecurity policy only affects users when traveling outside US.

Q: Point of clarification--if you still want to check your work apps during personal travel abroad, you still need to follow this process, correct?

A: Yes, for personal travel outside US, if you want to access work, please follow new cybersecurity policies.

Q: Will Outlook access only be restricted in high-risk countries from personal phones, and not from laptops?

A: The high-risk countries policy applies to your Microsoft account, no matter which device you use, access will be prohibited unless and until you contact IT.
