Communications Strategy 

 

Strategic Planning Team 3.3 (comms sub-group) will finalize, in partnership with the Meridian Comms team, an appropriate communications strategy for the launch of the Meridian Center for Global Leadership. The focus of this sub-group will be guided by two areas of focus: Internal and External Communications.  

 

Internal Communications: Team 3.3 will determine how best to communicate updates and deliverables related to MCGL to the Meridian staff and Board of Trustees. These efforts will adhere to the following timeline:

  • September-December: Send biweekly updates to all staff within the PED/GC division (CC Lee) noting next steps and deliverables 
  • September-December: Offer opportunities for staff to engage and participate in the planning stages of MCGL
    1. Ways to engage: email, direct email to team members, discussion with team members, or attend Team 3 mtgs 
  • September: Provide the Board of Trustees an update on the development of MCGL at the meeting on September 24
    1. Team 3 and Meridian Comms will need to work with Meridian leadership to confirm key talking points, who will present (Myra/Erin), and how the information is provided, i.e. PPT (Myra/Erin to help) 
  • September-December: Provide the staff with regularly updated FAQ document with key talking points to follow after the Summit 

 

External Communications: Team 3.3, in partnership with Meridian Comms division, will discuss how best to notify our key stakeholders, client base, and strategic partners about MCGL. These efforts will adhere to the following timeline:

  • September 25-October 15: Team members will work with Meridian leadership to determine how best to notify the U.S. Department of State (ECA). 
    1. Key talking points will be determined by Team 3 and deployed on a schedule that is agreed upon. Communication to ECA must take place prior to the Global Leadership Summit on October 23, 2020
  • October 15-22: Meridian will notify other key stakeholders such as corporate partners, council members, and others who should learn this prior to the Summit
  • October 23: Meridian will officially announce the development of MCGL planned for January 2020 to the general public at the Summit. How and who will present?
    1. Stuart to announce in remarks introducing the Global Leadership Awards. No video.   
    2. Team 3 and leadership will develop a plan to promote on Meridian’s website. Meridian site will have a page for MCGL until the larger Meridian site is updated 
    3.  First draft press release completed by Oct 15. Team 3 and leadership must approve before it is released. Press release can use content from the Summit to help underscore the message. Press Release will release after the Summit 
  • January-May: Team 3, Meridian leadership, and the comms team will strategize on how best to promote MCGL through its social media accounts.
    1. This may include alumni spotlights, op-eds, blogs, and more
