There are Household and Organization Accounts in Salesforce. 

  • Households are the primary Account for any Contact, and what should be listed for the Account Name under the Contact record. 
  • Organizations are entities to which Meridian provides services or that provides services to Meridian, such as corporate sponsors, transportation companies, government offices, etc.
    • Organizational affiliations, through employment, board membership, volunteerism, etc. can be listed under Primary Affiliation and within the Affiliations related list on the Contact record. Below is a screenshot from Jenna Behringer's Contact record demonstrating this.

Accounts can be nested beneath one another, so that there is an Account Hierarchy. To review the hierarchy, click the arrow on the upper right-hand side of the Account page and select "View Account Hierarchy."
